BELvue Museum
We’re writing in 1830… That’s when the story begins. The story of a little country that proves to be very surprising. The story of a little bit of land called Belgium. A country changing and growing for nearly 200 years. With a life consisting of successes and failures as well as of rebellions and wars, democracy and kings.
At the BELvue museum, we don’t write history, it is history that has written the story of our museum. Through 9 galleries and temporary exhibitions, this country amazes both its own inhabitants and its guests. Historic events told by unique documents, relevant film extracts and unforgettable photographs bring moments from the past back to life, with memories for the older visitors and a journey of discovery for the younger ones.
You can also simply "call in" for the pleasure of enjoying a magnificent place, the old 18th century Bellevue building. Standing just next to the Royal Palace with a view over its gardens, the only edifice of its kind, superbly decorated. This building is much more than a pile of stones or history, it lets you relive part of our collective memory and welcomes you with open arms. The BELvue has a story and wants to share it with you!
