BIP - Brussels Info Place
At the heart of the capital’s museums’ district, BIP - Bruxelles Info Place/Brussel Info Plein/Brussels Info Place – is the Visitor Centre of the Brussels-Capital Region. The gaze of this huge, fully-renovated complex of 3 buildings standing on Place Royale sweeps across Mont des Arts, the Royal Palace and Parc de Bruxelles.
The Lloyds building is dedicated to presenting and promoting the Region. The Brussels tourist office gives visitors, whether locals of Brussels, Belgians or tourists, all the information they need on the cultural and tourist activities organised in the 19 communes of the capital.
The whole of the first floor is dedicated to the experience brussels! exhibition. Through a fun, interactive scenographic display, this permanent exhibition presents the Region from every angle: its local residents, its culture, its diversity, its economy, and more. Visitors can even test their knowledge about the international city status, etc. there. The exhibition ends with a very fine scale model of the Region. The exhibition is open to everyone and is the starting point of any visit to the Region.
As for the Lalaing building, it’s establishing
itself as a place of protocol and influence for Brussels. Its
function rooms host various events, press conferences, receptions,
symposiums, conferences, etc. The Regional Government assembles in
the Léopold room, where, according to legend, the Belgian
Constitution was signed by King Léopold I.
Linking the Lloyds building and Lalaing House, the building known
as Liaison is the seat of educational activities.
School groups attend Heritage Classes there, a project run by
Minister Emir Kir in cooperation with the King Baudouin Foundation.
The Foundation is keen to raise pupils’ awareness of citizenship
via the Democracy Portal.
By highlighting its treasures, the Region of Brussels is giving itself a fantastic showcase equal to its aims. BIP creates great prospects for the influence of Brussels and the assertion of its identity beyond its borders.
